look at this and just try and tell me that all three of these women don’t look exactly the same. try and tell me that Disney isn’t lazy when it comes to creating women.

wow two sisters and their mom you’re right why on earth would they look the same

But they don’t. They don’t look EXACTLY the same. Similar of course but each one has their own unique features. Fucktard.

my family includes two sisters and a mom and we do not look NEARLY that similar so there goes that theory.

You’re also a living, human being with significantly more room for nuance in appearance. I absolutely think this is Disney being lazy, but as an artist I constantly worry about having a consistency in my style while still being able to differentiate people. Indicating a family resemblance on top of all that seems impossible to me, but I’m also not a mega-corporation who has been doing this shit for over 50 years.

I guess my point is that I want people to understand the difficulty of the artistic aspect of this, while still agreeing with the sentiment that Disney dropped the ball.

Following Disney animator Lino DeSalvo’s remarks that female characters are harder to draw because they have to be “pretty,” Brave co-director Brenda Chapman has reiterated her frustration with the “boys’ club” of animation, which she says resulted in a “blatantly sexist” redesign of her character, Merida.
